Welcome to the beginning of the year. The time where we all swear we will change something in our lives: aka, New Year’s Resolutions.
Forbes says that only 8% of people keep their resolutions. So why make them? I say don’t bother.
Instead of vague promises to “lose weight, eat more healthy, or quit smoking,” — Lifehacker suggests to be more specific on just one or two small items. For instance:
- “Lose weight” becomes “workout three days a week.”
- “Eat more healthy” becomes “log my meals during the weekdays.”
- “Quit smoking” becomes “cut back on one cigarette each week.”
Are you getting it? Resolutions are stupid because they are unattainable. Setting goals and changing habits a little bit at a time? I’m all for that. — [eric]
