Tattoo artist offers to cover up Brand New tattoos

Fans of the alternative band Brand New are having a difficult week following Jesse Lacey’s apology for sexual misconduct, but any fans who have tattoos of the band’s emotive lyrics have found help from tattoo artist Harriet Heath who has offered to do cover up work for charity donations. She elaborates on why she’s doing the kind gesture and the rape crisis charity it will benefit in a post on Instagram.

“I would like to give priority on this day to those who have been affected by sexual assault, for whom this news causes extra pain to. When you contact me you can simply add a #metooto the email and I will do my best to fit you in on the day.” says Heath in the post. Heath unfortunately resides in Manchester, England so BN fans may have to seek out a local artist to cover the now in-doubt lyrics inked on their skin.

Thank you to Alternative Press for turning us on this story.

As a gesture of goodwill and to try to make something positive come out of a terrible situation, on December 2nd at @toothandtalontattoo I will be doing cover ups of any tattoos of Brand New band lyrics in exchange for a donation to @rapecrisisew I feel so much sympathy for those who feel sick to their stomachs having his words on their bodies and want to be rid of them. I would like to give priority on this day to those who have been affected by sexual assault, for whom this news causes extra pain to. When you contact me you can simply add a #metoo to the email and I will do my best to fit you in on the day. I am expecting a high level of emails and there’s only so much I can do in a day due to the nature of coverup work. Some coverups also may not be possible or would require a full day sitting or simply won’t work in my style so this will also have a bearing on what I can accept on the day as I want you to be able to get the best possible job. Therefore for the rest of the month of December I will be offering to do the coverups at a slightly reduced rate from what I would normally charge. For all enquiries please email me on [email protected] with a clear photo of your current tattoo, and a description of what you would like to have over it in an ideal world. Also please let me know if you’re available on the 2nd December in Manchester and I’ll get back to you all in a few days. 🧡
