Pearl Jam’s first Chicago show

As Chicago braces for two Pearl Jam shows at Wrigley, with after-market ticket prices reaching levels only the hyper-affluent can afford, it’s fun to take a look back at their early days. The first time they played Chicago was at Cabaret Metro: July 21, 1991.

They were on the bottom of the bill, underneath Minneapolis bands Soul Asylum and the Jayhawks. Some websites list the bill as Naked Raygun, Urge Overkill, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Soul Asylum and the Jayhawks. In truth, the other three bands played on different nights that weekend, but all those shows were part of Cabaret Metro’s 9th anniversary.

The setlist:
Wash
Once
Even Flow
State of Love and Trust
Alive
Why Go
Porch

The handwritten setlist from the night also included Deep and Jeremy, which were both scratched.
