Capital Cities prep new EP with a breakup song

CapitalCities

Capital Cities who danced into our collective hearts in 2013 with “Safe and Sound” off the album ‘In a Tidal Wave of Mystery’, are prepping a new EP due out in October 21st. The Los Angeles based band made up of the duo of Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian spoke this week with RollingStone about their breakout success, how they don’t like performing in expensive studios, and how their new song ‘Vowels’ was written right after a break-up. Read the whole interview here.

“I was dating this girl and things were not going great. The day I wrote it, I called up this girl and asked her plainly ‘What’s going on between us?’ Unfortunately, the relationship ended after that. The song literally came two hours after having this painful conversation. It’s about having so many things on your mind that you’re unable to express in words.” – vocalist/keyboardist Ryan Merchant
Near the tail end of the album cycle for ‘Tidal Wave’, saw the release of the video for the delightful love letter to retro sound equipment and obsession over music “I Sold My Bed But Not My Stereo”.

Also this song which barely involves Ryan and Sebu is funky morsel to consume as well.
