Pro video gamers might start to outearn pro athletes.

When I was a kid, I imitated and dreamed of becoming a pro athlete.  But times are changing, if you’ve been paying attention.

A new generation is idolizing video gamers — and soon, their worth may be equal or greater than the world of sports.

Ponderwall presents a profile on eSports, in which we learn the following:

  • 2016’s League of Legends tournament drew 36 million views.  That’s five times more than the NBA Finals that year.
  • Video games are being designed to not just be appealing to players, but appealing to those watching people play.
  • By 2020, eSports could be a $1.2 billion dollar industry.
